Adopt an Animal
Animals in Distress rescues and cares for many animals who are looking for safe and loving homes.
If you are considering adopting a pet, you can view the animals currently available and learn more about the adoption process below.
Animals for Adoption
Many of the animals that arrive at Animals in Distress have been abandoned,
neglected or found injured.
Once they have received veterinary treatment and care, we aim to find them safe and responsible homes where they can enjoy a better life.
All homes are carefully checked to ensure animals are placed in safe and responsible environments. We ask all adopters to give these animals a fair chance to settle into their new homes.

All potential homes are checked to ensure animals are placed in safe and caring environments.
Prospective owners may need to visit the animal several times before adoption. This allows both the animal and the new owner time to become familiar with each other.
Our team will guide you through the process and help you decide whether an animal is the right match for your home.
Giving Your New Pet Time to Settle
Adopting an animal is a long-term commitment and it can take time for a rescued animal to settle into a new home.
Some animals may take weeks, months or even longer to fully adjust to a new environment. A consistent daily routine, regular exercise and patience will help your new companion settle more quickly.
Please remember that rescued animals may need time, understanding and stability while they adapt to their new home.
Animals That Need Homes the Most
Some animals can take longer to find homes than others.
Older animals, Staffordshire Bull Terriers, Rottweilers, Greyhounds and black-and-white cats are often overlooked despite being loving and loyal companions.
Colour, breed or age does not define an animal’s personality — the care and kindness they receive makes the difference. Please consider giving one of these animals a chance.
